The Regina Center employs women in need. Below are just a few examples of the stories of our center.

Our Stories

Mrs. Kamgong Songmeuang

30 Years Old

Educated until 6th year Primary School

2 Sons

Before she worked full time at the Regina Self-Help Center, Kamgong was a sewing student at Hua Sai. While she was finished studying at Hua Sai, she joined the staff full time. She then got married and moved to work on a construction site in Bangkok with her husband.  While working there, her husband got into an electrical accident. The electric shock killed the tissue in his hands and thus he had to have them amputated.  She and her husband returned to Nongkhai Province to be with their children, who were living with their grandparents at the time.  Kamgong decided then to return to work in Regina’s Hua Sai Center. By returning, she is able to use and increase her skills in sewing. Kamgong has now been happily working at Regina’s Hua Sai Center for one full year. When you buy from Regina Center, you are supporting work that helps women like Kamgong who are in crisis. Thanks to Kamgong’s involvement with the Regina Center, she is able to provide for her family and give them hope for a future.

Mrs. Buaphan  Saengsopha

39 years old

Educated Until 6th grade of Primary school.

2 sons studying in primary school.

Prior to working at the Regina Center, Buaphan was employed as a housekeeper at a sewing shop in Nongkhai city, making little money. A relative of hers advised her to contact the Regina  Center. Once at Regina, she started to train in crochet and sewing but liked embroidery most. She trained until she I became very skilled and is now one of the most trusted in the embroidery department.

Buaphan now earns enough to take care of herself and her family. Her goal is to work at the Regina Center in order to provide for the education of her children till they complete their studies, so that they can have a better life.

Buaphan says "I sincerely wish that our Center could continue to have work and help women and girls constantly develop their embroidery skills."

Mrs. Pisamai Ounok

43 Years Old

Finished 4th year Primary School

1 Son

Pisamai’s involvement in the Regina Center started when she signed up to learn embroidery and sewing at Hua Sai Center. She then got married, and moved to live with her husband thus started working from home for the Regina Center. She was happily married and got pregnant but unfortunately had complications in her labor. Her son thankfully came out healthy but the hard labor left her legs paralyzed. She cannot walk on her own and spends most of her days seated. She has now been paralyzed 11 years. After giving birth to her son, Pisamai really relied on her work at the Regina Center. As she could not walk, it is about the only work she can find in her village. She does all of her work from home. Pisamai’s neighbor is also a Regina Center home worker. She helps Pisamai by picking up her work and dropping off her finished projects. Thanks to the Regina Center’s homeworkers division, Pisamai has a way to earn a living wage despite her disability. Your support of our center helps us to help women like Pisamai who have no other options.
